1. Explore Corfu Town and Discover Its Secret CornersTown and relailing it’s secret spots.

Begin your journey in the heart of the island: Corfu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Walk along the elegant Liston Promenade, cross the impressive Spianada Square and lose yourself in the narrow streets of Campiello. Spring is perfect for exploring the Old Town on foot, when flowers appear on balconies and the warmer days invite you to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.

Look beyond the main streets and wander through the small alleys, known locally as kantounia. Here you will discover hidden squares, colourful buildings, tiny churches and everyday scenes of Corfiot life.

Tip No. 1: Stop for a coffee at one of the little cafés hidden among the kantounia. Sometimes the best way to experience Corfu is simply to sit, observe and enjoy the rhythm of the town.

2. Discover the Beauty of Achilleion Palace

A short drive from Corfu Town takes you to Achilleion Palace, one of the island’s most famous historical landmarks.

The palace was built for Empress Elisabeth of Austria, widely known as Sisi, who found inspiration and tranquillity in Corfu. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and sculptures inspired by Greek mythology, Achilleion combines history, art and impressive views of the surrounding landscape.

Spring adds another dimension to the experience, as the gardens and countryside surrounding the palace are at their greenest.

Tip No. 2: Don’t rush your visit. Take some time to walk through the gardens and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

3. Visit Kanoni, Vlacherna Monastery and Mouse Island

Few views are more closely associated with Corfu than the famous panorama from Kanoni.

From here you can admire the tiny Vlacherna Monastery, connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, with the green island of Pontikonisi – Mouse Island – just behind it.

Small boats operate from the area and can take visitors across to Pontikonisi, where a tiny historic church stands among the cypress trees.

According to local mythology, Pontikonisi is linked to the ship of the Phaeacians that carried Odysseus back to Ithaca before being turned to stone by Poseidon.

Tip No. 3: Stay for a while rather than just taking the classic photograph. Watching the planes approach Corfu Airport just above the lagoon is another unforgettable part of the Kanoni experience.

4. Explore Paleokastritsa, Its Monastery and Beaches

Paleokastritsa is beautiful at any time of year, but spring gives this famous part of Corfu a particularly fresh and peaceful character.

Visit the monastery perched high above the sea and enjoy magnificent views over the coastline and the deep blue Ionian Sea. Afterwards, explore the small bays and beaches that make Paleokastritsa one of Corfu’s most recognisable landscapes.

Its collection includes important archaeological finds from different periods of Corfu’s history. One of its most celebrated exhibits is the monumental Gorgon Pediment from the Temple of Artemis, one of the great archaeological treasures of the island.

A museum visit is also an excellent choice for a cooler or rainy spring morning before continuing your exploration outdoors.

Tip No. 5: Give yourself enough time for the Gorgon Pediment. Seeing it in person gives you a completely different sense of its scale and importance.

6. Hike on Mount Pantokrator

Spring is perhaps the best season for discovering Corfu on foot.

For those who love nature and walking, Mount Pantokrator, the highest mountain on the island, offers spectacular views and numerous routes through the beautiful countryside of northern Corfu.

During spring, wildflowers cover the landscape while the temperatures remain comfortable for hiking. Traditional villages scattered around the mountain add another reason to explore the area slowly rather than simply driving to the summit.

Tip No. 6: Stop at one of the small village tavernas you encounter along the way. Many serve traditional dishes prepared with local ingredients and recipes passed down through generations.

For us, discovering these small places is as much a part of exploring Corfu as visiting the famous sights.

7. Taste Authentic Corfiot Cuisine

Spring is a wonderful season to discover Corfiot cuisine.

Traditional tavernas serve dishes inspired by the island’s unique culinary history, while seasonal produce brings fresh flavours to the table.

Look for Corfiot classics such as pastitsada, sofrito and bourdeto, but also ask about the dishes of the day. Some of the most memorable meals are often the simplest ones, especially in small family-run tavernas.

Whether you choose a restaurant in Corfu Town or stop somewhere in the countryside, food is one of the best ways to understand the island.

Tip No. 7: Don’t always choose from the menu immediately. Ask what has been cooked especially for the day — you may discover something you would never have ordered otherwise.

8. Experience Easter in Corfu

If your spring visit coincides with Orthodox Easter, you are about to experience one of Corfu’s most extraordinary traditions.

Easter in Corfu is famous throughout Greece and attracts visitors from around the world. During Holy Week, religious ceremonies, philharmonic bands, processions and centuries-old local customs fill the streets of Corfu Town and villages across the island.

One of the most famous moments takes place on Holy Saturday, when the Botides, large clay pots filled with water, are thrown from balconies in Corfu Town during the First Resurrection.

But Corfiot Easter is much more than the Botides. The processions, music, traditions and atmosphere throughout Holy Week create an experience unlike anywhere else in Greece.

Tip No. 8: If Easter is the main reason for your visit, arrive a few days before Holy Saturday. Some of the most moving traditions take place throughout Holy Week, not only during the famous Saturday celebrations.

9. Take a boat trips to Paxos and Antipaxos

Spring is also a beautiful time to explore the Ionian Sea.

A day trip to Paxos and Antipaxos offers dramatic coastlines, sea caves, picturesque villages and extraordinarily clear water.

Paxos has its own relaxed island atmosphere, while tiny Antipaxos is famous for beaches where the sea takes on almost unbelievable shades of blue and turquoise.

Boat excursions become increasingly available as the tourist season begins, although schedules may vary during the earlier weeks of spring.

Tip No. 9: If your excursion includes Antipaxos, don’t miss it. The smaller island may be tiny, but its scenery and crystal-clear waters make it one of the highlights of the trip.

10. Enjoy Corfu’s Gardens in Full Bloom

Spring is when Corfu truly deserves its reputation as one of Greece’s greenest islands.

In Corfu Town, take a peaceful walk through the Garden of the People, beside the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, or continue towards the Boschetto Garden, overlooking the Old Fortress and the sea.
